i've decided to start blogging again :) that's it.
last night i went to an improv competition that a friend of mine was in at the source theater. it was very funny and a nice way to round out the week. I ended up staying in the district with brenna since the show ended late, and i LOVED riding 15 minutes in to work this morning... what a difference! living on this side of the potomac... i've decided to give up my wonderful, giant, quiet apt when i leave on my detail. so i'm getting rid of most of my stuff too - i'll put up the rest in a teeny tiny storage unit and then try to come back to a room in a house with roommates. I never thought i'd be lonely living on my own - indeed, never have been before now. I think it's because i work by myself all day, it's hard to go home to an empty house at night, unless you've had a lot of interaction during the day... i find myself watching DVRed episodes of Friends as a substitute for real company - and that's pretty much how i made my decision. i just saw an article in the Express about a book called How we Decide. Looks awesome. and it basically says, we decide with our guts, and then rationalize why we feel that way. i know that's how i do it. i'm reading right now The Art of Racing in the Rain. it's written by a dog. It's a very fast read - reminds me a lot of Lottery, which is written from the perspective of a man characterized as "slow." both characters are very deliberate and literal, it's great for late night reading before bed, or picking up on and off on the train/bus/plane. my most recent fave though is a book i read for my new book club called Cloud Atlas (David Mitchell) not deliberate or literal and quite a gymnastics routine for my brain after years of reading non-fiction and texts. it's wonderful and the complexities are obvious and subtle at the same time. hopefully when the book club actually meets, my friends will help me articulate that a bit more. hope you're all well, and i hope to start reading blogs again as well - so hugs all around, and thanks for having me back :) p

woohoo! good to see you back on here.
our blogs have to be grandparents by now.
Good to hear from you. Want to say anything about the upcoming move? What sort of assignment & stuff like that? And some of us aren't even all that clear about what you've been doing in DC these past months. (I would have bet that you would be out in a National Park somewhere.)
