not about phelps.

i'm obsessed with michael phelps, but i might have even more respect for lezak. of course, as an athlete, if i get to be one of them in a simulation, i want to be phelps (that was one of my pre-race dreams this week, actually). what athlete wouldn't choose 4-dimensional glory? but i can't get the relays out of my mind while i watch phelps crying over becoming the number one athlete in the world - EVER. (i might have titled this post prematurely.) he couldn't, wouldn't, never shoulda tried it without lezak by his side, on his tail, and otherwise saving his ass with astounding come-from-behind veteran experience that just wreaks of teamwork and olympic spirit. while phelps offers an example to humanity of what hard work, dedication, yada yada yada, and lots of calories can do on the world stage, lezak gives us the stoic, humane, admirable, and good in a way that we can emulate everyday, all the time... even when dry.

(my race went well today, btw. more on that when results are posted and i get pics from meggy.)
