halfway to summer goal.

"read 8 books"

down to 4... my list seems to be growing longer, however, instead of shorter, the more i read.
today's accomplishment: snow falling on cedars.
for some unknown reason i had it in my head for years that this was a gushy romance novel, and so, despite good reviews, had avoided actually taking it off the shelf and reading it.
the novel falls squarely in the realm of several types of fiction, none of them the gushy romance type. murder mystery, historical fiction, psychological/emotional fiction (is that a category?), and, within all of those, intensely detailed descriptions to make the atmosphere and setting practically tangible. thrilling, upsetting, emotionally challenging and ultimately satisfying... bravo guterson.
