i had a fortune cookie once that read "you are a bundle of energy and always on the go."
in case you don't know, i'll be planting trees all summer, not just trees, but mainly trees, with communities in new haven who've banded together and asked for supplies, and plans, and plants, and me to help them create greenspace in their neighborhoods and parks. this week is my orientation as a presidential public service fellow, PPSF being a program designed to make us all want to stay in new haven and be public servants for the rest of our lives... they're very persuasive, but there's still snow here, as there is not in other desperate cities further south... so tonight's banquet dinner (at which the mayor did a little speech and equated one person present to the top pancake of public work and my supervisor (also present) to the bottom pancake) was at a really upscale and delicious chinese restaurant down in the ninth square. my fortune tonight read "with every deed you are sowing a seed, though the harvest you may not see."
