coldplay woke me up at 8 (thanks again girls!) and i thought, now that was dumb, mass is at 8:30, i won't make it. so oh well, i'll go at 10:30. 5 minutes later, i realized i probably would make it, so i jumped up and got in the shower and got ready. at 8:32 i stepped out my apt door and walked the 100 yards to st. joe's. i was in plenty of company at 8:33. by 9:16 i was back in my apt changing for the day.
wow.
i enjoyed the homily this morning, what i could understand of it. i miss my one-room schoolhouse version of a chapel. the mic just makes it echo. the mic, and the 30 foot barrel-vault ceiling. and the empty pews. but like i said, it was early. plus, i think the priest was kind of mumbly... which i was getting pretty good at deciphering before i left home, but that's southern mumbling, not northern mumbling... HUGE difference. anyway, back to my point. i enjoyed the homily. there was much discussion of "preach the gospel at all times; if necessary use words" which i have always appreciated. and a good bit of emphasis placed on traveling lightly and not letting one's belongings become a burden. well, as you all know, never have my material possessions been more literally a burden than they have been in the last 2 weeks. as a neighbor of my parent's put it: "it's like putting 50 lbs of shit in a 5 lb bag." he and his wife are moving into an 1100 sq ft condo from a home about double the size...
so the box that was on my bed preventing sleep yesterday ended up on the floor last night so i could go to sleep, as i predicted it would, and must be sorted today. (self-fulfilling what?)
catch y'all later.
