starve on Medha Patkar, starve on.

"Officials say that the Narmada dam project will bring drinking water to 40 million people in three drought-prone states, irrigate land and generate electricity. Activists with the Narmada Bachao Andolan, also known as the NBA, or the Save the Narmada Movement, counter that as many as 250,000 people, mainly impoverished farmers, could see their homes submerged by rising floodwaters"

dudes, drinking water or no, big dams are bad.

Why are big dams bad? Just because people have to move? There are plenty of times when we make people move for the common good. Is there some more eco-concious reason big dams are bad, because it seems like a good source of energy to me.

it just ain't natural... like livin' in a flood plain. some of mother nature's rules shouldn't be broken; we're too smart for that.
