movin' on up.

i can't believe my parents are leaving tomorrow morning to start their trek up here. they'll be here thursday for a quick packing session with some burly friends of mine (gotta love loggers) and then a weekend in new hampshire (only the third time i'll have seen my aunt and cousins since i've lived this close to them - pathetic). sunday i'm considering going to hear tony blair speak on old campus, but am wondering if it's worth the hassle. this is the problem with going to yale: suddenly there are lots of interesting things going on and people visiting from all over, therefore, it's okay to go seen none of them ever. because they are always coming and going. i'm already kicking myself over some of the brilliant talks i've missed because of... whatever. but this takes us to monday - graduation. yippy skippy. what else is there to say? other than that i will not make the same mistake i made last time i got bored without being in class: i took a class. nonono. this time, i'm going to watch documentaries... that way it's just an hour or two of pause-able learning, and no homework... netflix - here i come. i'm also contemplating (1) joining a climbing gym, (2) starting a board game night, (3) rekindling my old container garden, (4) getting a dog, (5) and a cat, (6) reading the 10 boxes of books i brought to ct and didn't get to, (7) teaching myself how to cook and eating much better, (8) training for another triathlon, (9) not buying anything new or from far away, (10) keeping in touch with my friends who are now officially from all over the world, (11) keeping up with exhibits and concerts in dc, (12) meeting new people, (13) and listening to Sondre Lerche non-stop. if you think of things i can do in my second week, keep the ideas rolling. i was bored one day already since saturday - but i think it's because i've had a cold and had to kind of lay low for the last 72 hours... (not that i did - i went to ny to hear The Swell Season at radio city music hall - if you haven't seen Once, do, and then go buy every piece of music they've ever produced. whew, apparently not having to type for class leaves lots of finger energy left over for communicating with loved ones! this bodes well for friendships i've been lame enough to set aside for two years while i wrote papers. love all.
