daydreams.

winter, biting my already challenged appendages, presents itself slowly.
in time, i learn to thwart its nasty attitude. my coat looks like a sleeping bag. i can't see. i am sweaty when i get to school. the wind tunnel by the library takes my breath away and i am blinded by the wind, my hair, my scarf, my tears. being S.A.D. makes me angry. i take it out on wool sweaters and fleece gloves, too wimpy to withstand the wind chill of ugly grey city streets. i am trapped and clawing, pacing and snuffling, working underground, watching lifeless potted trees on the library patio buffetted by the wind in the courtyard. a plastic bag is trapped in the branches, it fights to no avail. beyond it - brick wall. like they don't want to know about the dimmed sunlight that lies beyond the musty stacks and torn vinyl. how could anything stay here for 300 years? i close now, to write an essay so i can stay longer. stay longer... stay longer........ to enjoy another winter.

Poor PBR. Would it help if I told you that even in sunny SC I have a bad winter cold? And that I still have to go out in the field and peer down some former burn pit??

Might get colder here in SC. We had thunder tonight. The folklore is thunder in the winter, snow in 10 days.

Not like your snow of course...Keep bundled up.
