herbology.

i know i'm a freak. but i couldn't pass up the reference to neville.
i potted my porch today and now have dirt firmly ingrained in all my finger and toenails (it's too hot for shoes) and am quite satisfied with the arrangement i have come up with. of course, at this point, it pretty much looks like wet dirt in old pots, but that's because the seeds haven't come up yet... since i just planted them today an'all.

on a slightly more profound note, i spent most of the week with my parents since i was working in beaufort and decided to stay with them instead of with my coworkers in a strikingly beautiful beach house on fripp island. no, i've not had a ct scan lately, which explains lots of things. BUT my point in all this is that i spent no less than 5 nights at home and only had minor skirmishes with my mother. usually we don't go 12 hours without bringing out our respective cannons and digging trenches in the living room, while my father, the marine, watches the war helplessly and hopelessly from somewhere in no man's land. he usually gets shot.

all this is to say that God is good, and helped my mother and i to have a peaceful and lovely week in one another's company, and no one said "good riddance" when we parted :)
