styrofoam is usually recyclable these days and is mostly made with air puffed through instead of noxious gases like it used to be. however, i imagine there are still companies that prefer the deadly version of styrofoam: wal-mart and exxon, for example.
The guys who pick up the recycling in my neighborhood just dump the styrofoam out. And what on earth (no pun intended) would one do with recycled styrofoam?
Hey! If I crumble it up into tiny little pieces and then scatter it around the house so that it attacks our cat, does the amusement this generates count as point-of-use recycling?
few cities allocate funding for proper recycling facilities, believing the bull-pucky that increased recycling will up unemployment. these are people too lazy to think things through all the way, or they have thought them through and they're too lazy to be innovative.
