you need colors. i'd say "rounders 3" if you want something prefab but newish to you. or maybe you just need to use some background color other than white.
i also think you should use, as your profile picture, the picture of the guy in all the sample blog templates.
this won't really be helpful either, but one way to get your sidebar on the side would be to use mozilla firefox, not internet explorer. (i use firefox at home, and your blog looks fine, so i had no idea what you were talking about until i went to work and saw your blog on i.e....not that i was just reading blogs at work, i mean.)

OH, now I understand what you're talking about. Yeah, your blog looks fine on Netscape. From my own experience, my blog NEVER look right on Explorer- changes pictures and sizes and all sorts of stuff. SO perhaps your blog isn't the problem.
Looks fine on my usual Mac browsers (Safari, Opera, Firefox, & Netscape) as well. The sidebar is on the right.
And I like black text on a white background. It's much easier on tired eyes. And much more like "real" reading -- by which this old curmudgeon means "books."

Do you know any 14 year olds? They can probably re-do your programming for you.

well - i like the white - hence the name. but i need my sidebar to actually appear on the side. that's what i mean.
