MNJIGAICWTLM

that's a sentence. in acronymese... i've never learned so many new words in such a short period of time. here's a minute taste.

i started my new job tuesday at DHEC(1). i'm a hydrogeologist in the EQC(2)/BLWM(3) working with DOD(4) sites to facilitate USATC&FTJA's(5) meeting of RCRA(6) cleanup requirements for their SWMUs(7). (that's pronounced "smoos.") last week was great and the other woman who works with FTJA is really nice... though possibly leaving in may! bummer. she's shown me around the labrynthine building and introduced me to many people who are all smily and happy to see me and have told me they have an open-door policy... haha... we don't have office doors.

tuesday: very much walking around and nodding my head and smiling and asking questions... good ones at least... i was told.

wednesday: mary was gone so i was on my own reading up on my work policies and getting my office semi-arranged. i was worried tuesday that i wouldn't be able to fill an 8-hr work day by myself. haha. no worries...

thursday: into the fire. i attended an annual meeting at FTJA to determine funding for the SWMUs. my part: learn as much as i could as fast as i could and take notes on everything else so i could ask about it later.
oh! i did actually contribute: "um, don't laugh, but middle of the first paragraph, before the words 'were assessed...' i don't think there should be a comma there." they laughed. but then thanked me for contributing and indeed... the comma shouldn't have been there... it pays to be tied to a good editor most of the time.

friday: the meeting thursday ended two hours before the end of the work day which was two hours and one half-day shorter than it was supposed to be, so i got the day to ask mary a zillion questions about thursday, wednesday, tuesday, and all the days that would come after this one. oh, and i signed up for OSHA(8) training - miraculously. my funding paperwork, which should have taken two weeks to be signed by its appropriate signatories, took ten minutes with two fill-ins to take the appropriate signatories' places.

today-friday: OSHA training. 40 hours of videos from the 70s, worksheets with folded corners, photos of workers with drill bits sticking out of their skulls, and, of course, more acronyms. here's another appetizer for you.
send me your numbered answers to these listed below and win a prize if you're right! bonus for numbers 15-20.

You forgot the best one - HAZWOPER! The first time I heard that (before I entered the world of environmental consulting and thus acronym city) I about laughed my arse off. I couldn't believe they had a class for that!
