who's a nerd?

i sat in class listening to a professor on a tangent about the nerds we went to high school with for the first time yesterday.

it wasn't the subject matter - it's old news that there were nerds in high school - it was that he talked about it in the third person, instead of second.

"they were nerds"............ in every other context i can think of, a professor would have said "you were nerds" (assuming we aren't anymore, which is false)

i felt like i wasn't supposed to be there... like there was a secret meeting of cool people and they'd accidentally let me in. or maybe like i was at my own funeral.
